Brady Street Days in October featuring Buskerfest!
Brady Street Improvement District #11 (BID) announces Brady Street Days on Saturday and Sunday, October 6th and 7th.
Saturday, October 6th, 11 am – dusk
Area merchants will offer great deals during a one-day sidewalk sale with a cool scavenger hunt will lead a lucky someone to great Brady Street prizes. Buskers will be on hand to entertain throughout the day. Buskers are zany, offbeat street entertainers performing for amusement and tips. And John Sieger & The Subcontinentals will perform on the Passegio Courtyard (located between Arlington and Warren on Brady) from 1 – 5 pm.
BUSKERS? Never heard of such a thing? You’re going to love this! Buskers can be dancers, mimes, clowns, magicians, puppeteers, living statues, sidewalk artists, jugglers, fire dancers, stilt walkers, etc. Busker festivals are rather uncommon in the United States, although many are held in Canada, and buskering is very common in Europe and other parts of the world. A busker is not to be confused with a panhandler, as they do not approach people for money. Instead, buskers often “pass the hat” and leave the reward up to audience. There is no performance schedule as spontaneity is the order of the day.
Sunday, October 7th 11 am – 3 pm Woof!
The merchants will bring the sales merchandise back inside to make way for our four-legged friends dog walk, canine costume contest and pet blessing. Festivities and registration begin at 11 am with dog demos, vendors and ‘lots of sniffing. The parade kicks off at 1:30 pm. Visit Bradyst.com for more information on how Fido can be part of this furlicious event.
